The Constitutional School operates an open admissions policy. It does not select on the basis of academic ability, aptitude, or background. It accepts any student who has the capacity to participate as a self-directed, autonomous member of the community – and any family that genuinely understands and accepts the philosophy on which the school is built.

That second condition matters. A constitutional school works because its members – students and families alike – have chosen it knowingly. A family that enrols hoping the school will eventually impose more structure, or that their child will be guided toward particular outcomes, will find that it does not. The admissions process exists to make sure that everyone who joins does so with open eyes.

The Process

Admission to The Constitutional School follows three steps.

Come and talk. The first step is a conversation with the prospective student and their family together. This is not an interview in the conventional sense. There are no right answers and nothing to prepare. It is an opportunity to ask questions, hear about the school directly, and begin to understand whether it is the right fit. Equally, it is an opportunity for the school to understand the family and what has brought them here.

Experience the school. Before any decision is made, the prospective student spends a week at the school as a visiting member of the community. During that week they are welcomed as a full participant – attending the Assembly, using their time as they choose, and getting a genuine sense of what daily life is like. At the end of the week, the student, the family, and the school each consider whether enrolment is right.

Enrol. If all three parties are in agreement, enrolment can proceed. There are no further hurdles.

Fees

Annual tuition is expected to be in the region of £10,000 per student. This is significantly lower than most independent schools, reflecting the school’s model – without a prescribed curriculum or the staffing structures that deliver one, the school is able to operate at a lower cost while offering something no conventional school can.

The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, gender, religion, or national or ethnic origin.
